Mother-in-law
Now that everything has been arranged in Groningen, we need to drive past Zwolle on the way home. We still need to ask my mother-in-law whether we can come and stay with them for at least a week every month. We don’t think it’ll be a problem, but we do have to ask. So we stop by on the way home. She is completely surprised to see us and immediately starts talking. Denny tells her three times that we’ve just come from Groningen, but she sees no reason to ask us why – she just keeps chatting happily. 🙂 “Mo-om! We want to tell you something.” Suddenly she realises and stops chatting. She smiles from ear to ear. “I think I know what it is.” Very sweet to see, but no, that’s not it. Denny explains what we were doing in Groningen and what’s going to happen soon, but all she hears is that we’re coming to stay and that she’s going to be a grandmother again (that the chance is only 30% doesn’t seem to make an impact). She’s completely happy.
When we leave she says, “I’ll be a grandmother again.” It’s a conflicting feeling…. I hope that she’s right.
