Veronique and Arno chose to do a Fresh First Hours session. This means I will start taking photos in the first hour after the baby is born. The birth of their eldest son, Sjoerd, went very quick. So they expected this one to be like that.

On November 19th, I get a call at 5.35AM, it’s Arno. He sounds a little surprised (I can’t come up with a better word) and says: “Veronique is dilated 9cm”. I’m still a little sleepy and automatically I ask if she is already pushing. Actually there is no need to ask this question, because being 9cm dilated with a second child just means: get into the car! 🙂 He answers that she is not yet. We hang up and I get out of bed. I see on my phone that Veronique texted me earlier and if I look at the time, I am so surprised. She wrote me at 5.15AM: “Goodmorning, I think it has started, the midwife is on her way”. And then 20 minuten later Arno calls me to say she is dilated 9cm! I arrive at 6.15AM. Marit has been born at 6.07AM, a very fast birth and the midwife was just in time to get her gear ready. I documented the first hours of Marit her life, which is always extra special at home. ♥
